Deathmaster Snikch

Holy Crap it’s been a long time since I’ve posted!  Alrighty; new year, new commitment.  I didn’t hit 2 units a week, although I DO think I hit over 65 units painted for last year.  I should have just been happy with 1 unit a week.  :p  So anyways, here we go again:  1 unit per week commitment.  Currently I’m working on 120 rats (4 units), 3 Rat Ogres, a Bone Breaker w/Skaven Warlord, a Warp Lightning canon, 5 assault marines, a dreadnought, a vindicator, 5 sanguinary guard, 5 Blood Crushers, Skulltaker on a Juggernaut, 3 weapons teams, a Warlock engineer, and a chaos dwarf sorcerer on a Lammasu… 16 units altogether.  This will probably be similar to when I was working on all my daemons; a lot of “slow” progress, but I’ll finish several units over the course of a few weeks.

Deathmaster Snikch was pretty easy.  Granted I don’t do any wild advanced paint schemes, but for the most part he was all one color with a few embellishments here and there.  I don’t find assassins to be very valid in the new Skaven book; the couple of times that I have used them, they’ve been pretty worthless…

I’m fairly excited about the new Skaven units coming out; I’ll most likely get one of each of the new items so I can have two Hell Pit Abominations, Plague Claw Catapults, Warp Lightning canons, etc.  I think the Doom Flayer in particular looks very good.  I’m also excited at the prospect of getting a Storm Raven in February…

Death Company Dreadnought

When models are mostly black, they’re pretty easy to paint.  I actually made a slight modification to this model after I took this picture; I added a magna-grapple to its right shoulder.  I haven’t had a chance to play my Blood Angels with the new rules yet.  Part of it is that most of my friends play Space Marine variants, and it feels weird to do space marines vs space marines, you know?  I guess I don’t have much choice, though.  :/

Did some painting last night for this weeks commitment:  15 Giant rats with 2 Packmasters, Skweel Gnawtooth, Librarian Dreadnought, The Sanguinor, and Throgg the Troll King– hopefully I’ll finish them by Friday/Saturday.  I finished some units last week; 2 Rat Ogres and a Packmaster, Grey Seer, 3 Rat Swarms, and another Plague Mortar; numbers updated below.

Nurgle Sorcerer

This was a really simple conversion that I did on Gamesday last year.  Fortunately, he fits in really well with a unit of Chaos Warriors, and you can never have enough Sniping Nurgle Sorcerers, right?  😉

Worked on the Kroot and the Dreadnought yesterday and I’m almost done with both.  No worries about making tomorrow’s deadline.

Looks like tomorrow night a group of us will be playing an 1850 pt Planet Strike.  Imperium defending (Black Templars, Space Wolves, Battle Sisters, and Imperial Guard) vs non-Imperium (Chaos Marines, Daemons, Tau, and Orks).  It’ll be 1850 per side, so everyone will bring about 450 pts to contribute to the force organization.  Should be weird and fun!  😀

Sergeant Lorenzo (Blood Angels Terminator)

The models that come with Space Hulk are amazing.  I wish they would have been a bit more even to make full squads in regular 40k, or that the new Blood Angels rules had been more similar to the Space Wolves for outfitting individual models with specialized gear, which would have solved that problem.  :p

Made a lot of progress on my Kroot last night, but none on my dreadnought.  I still think I’ll finish them all by Friday…

Mentors and Blood Angels Captains

It is amazing how much a paint job can make a difference.  These are exactly the same model, only with a mentors and blood angels theme.  I like both of them quite a bit, but I would only field one in a battle.  I crashed last night, so I got very little painting done, though I did make some progress on my death company dreadnought.  fortunately, he’s mostly black, so he shouldn’t take too long…

I’m pretty proud of Doug’s accomplishments at his last tournament.  I’ve got a game scheduled for this Friday with 5, maybe 6 people playing, so I’m not sure how we will split it up (though I know we will have teams).  These usually are a lot of fun, but are extremely slow, so we’re going to try to streamline it a bit.  We’ll see how it goes…

Blood Angels Tactical Squad

I’m starting to run out of pics… time to take some more! 😀

I’m SUPER excited about the Blood Angels Codex coming out in a few weeks. I don’t have any Death Company yet, but the new models are fantastic and I’ll be getting at least a squad of 10…

Sorry I wasn’t on last week. My mom and grandparents were in town, and I only get on the ‘net when I’m at work. Since my last post, I finished up my Fire Warriors and two units of 14 Spores (i.e. Pink Horrors). I also did the Shrine of Aquila, but I’m not counting that towards my totals. This week I’m working on a unit of 12 Kroot and a Death Company Dreadnought…

Mentors Space Marine Dreadnought

One of the big mistakes that I made when I bought the starter kit for 40k was to glue the arms on the dreadnought.  The second was that I traded my second one for an orc trukk…  *sigh*

Not a lot of painting last night, however, I did construct a pretty cool Vermin Lord from leftover Skaven stuff, so hopefully I can have some pics of that up sometime next week…
